Frequently Asked Questions

Do you shoot on location or in-studio?

Lifestyle sessions are shot at the location of your choice. Clients typically choose a location that best represnts their everyday life as a family such as in their home, at the park or somewhere they frequent. Outdoor sessions will only be shot one hour before sunset. While I know this is limiting for small children this is the only way to ensure the best light for pictures.

Do you do an in person consultation before the shoot?

After you book your session, you will receive an informational packet via email including some tips for the day of your shoot and ideas for what to wear.  Additionally, you will find a questionnaire attached that I ask that you fill out and return the week before your session; this helps me learn a little bit about your child and/or family, and the type of session you are looking for.  I think that this helps everyone feel more comfortable the day of the shoot, and helps me produce the best possible images for you!

What is a lifestyle session?

Lifestyle sessions are designed to highlight who your children are. They can be as simple as an evening at the park or a session in your backyard. The main point is to let kids be kids with as little posing and direction as possible.

While I DO take family photos please note that my photography is very child focused and I am primarily a child photographer. I strive to get all of the specific shots you request however I do not pose  children because it tends to make them cranky and uncomfortable. I find that letting children run, play, jump, and be silly will get the most authentic smiles and expressions.

How far in advance should we contact you to plan our session?

I am very flexible and will try my best to accommodate each client's scheduling needs, however please try to contact me at least four weeks in advance of when you'd like to plan your shoot. Weekend shoots are extremely limited and weekday shoots are generally more flexible.

What if we plan an outdoor shoot and it rains?

I will reschedule shoots for inclement weather.

How long will my session take?

The session fee includes a maximum of one hour of time spent on location. Many sessions take less than 1 hour but this is dependent on the lighting and how comfortable your child is being photographed. Please remember that this includes time spent on any outfit changes, as well as breaks for snack time or feeding.

When will I get my pictures?

Please allow 2-3 weeks for your images to become available for preview. Once you have decided on the 10 images from your session that you would like to purchase, provided payment has already been made, they will be made available for high resolution download within approximately 48 hours.
